Heroes Convention 2009

It's a little late, but here's my Heroes Con review:

It was AWESOME! Since I live in New York, I go to both the Big Apple con and MoCCA each year. Heroes Con in NC was like if you stick MoCCA right in the middle of the Big Apple Con! I was stationed at Indie Island, right across from the AdHouse table. Lamar Abrams and Fred Chao where there promoting their own (awesome) comics. My table was right next to Rob Ullman, who had some neat stickers and awesome new comics like Atomic Bomb Banana Hammock. On my other side was Finder writer/artist Carla Speed McNeil. Dean Trippe and Jason Horn were a little farther down. Other awesome guests on the list were Scott Wegener of Atomic Robo Fame, Eric Powell, Joe Staton, Bill Sienkiewicz, Nick Cardy, Dick Giordano, Jeff Powell, Dustin Harbin, and of course Vito Delsante!

Heroes Con also holds an annual auction and guests are invited to donate pieces, as many at they want! So during down time at my table, I drew a couple of kinda finished pieces that went for $150 and $175.

Not bad! All in all, the con was awesome. If you can make it down, it's definitely worth it. The city is great and the weather was beautiful so after the con we walked the two miles down to the comic shop, Heroes Aren't Hard to Find for the after party, which was also awesome. The have Doc Oct fighting Spidey extending from the ceiling, and a great selection of comics!

Special thanks to H. Shelton Drum for having me, and to Dustin for pushing my pieces!

  1. I never got to see the auction sketches before. That superlady fight scene is spectacular. How it didn't go for $9192390054390059, I will never understand. You are a MADWOMAN. It is amazing.
    Also, Tanya says hi. "Hi!"
